Have you ever thought about how wine sounds? Why has it been praised, often literally, for centuries? Any first encounter with wine is an attempt to feel different aromatic NOTES, which then combine into CHORDS of flavors during the tasting. Winemakers are often referred to as artists creating a work of art. AXIS Wine is a winery with such a creative approach to the craft. Today, the company is constantly investing in its development, from purchasing new vinifiers and French barrels to marketing events. All members of the winemakers' families help in the processing of grapes and promoting the brand, and this is what makes craft production attractive: when everything is made by hand with love and soul.

Winery

The winery started with a desire to create quality wine for themselves and friends. The founders of the winery, Dmytro Kopyi and Serhiy Urbanovskyi, released their first vintage in 2017. . The blend of Merlot and Alibernet under their own brand name “Meralibe” immediately received a bronze award at the international tasting competition Wine & Spirits Ukraine 2018. In 2018, the company “Axis Wine” was created, and on December 1, 2021, it obtained a license to produce wine by small wineries. The main concept of the winery is the production of high-quality dry wines from classic European grape varieties.

The vineyards

Our vineyards are located in the south of the Odessa region, in one of the best wine-growing regions of Ukraine – the Prydunayska Bessarabia, where winemaking is an ancient tradition. The climate of the region allows for high-quality full-bodied wines with rich aromatics. The grapevines, which are over 18 years old, are at an age where we can speak of mature wines. Therefore, the most interesting wines are yet to come.

Technologies

In 2021, the winery produced a unique sweet wine using the appassimento technique – the production of wine from dried grapes, as a result of which the berries lose about 50% of their liquid – this maximizes the concentration of natural sugars and flavor-aromatic substances in the grapes. We also use this technique to produce high-quality full-bodied red wines.

Equipment

To produce wines, the winery is equipped with high-tech European equipment, vinification takes place exclusively in containers made of stainless steel with precise temperature control. Wines are aged in French oak barriques for 6 to 24 months.
